Diary / News 10th August – Carli and Yarons Wedding, Plas Newydd Trooper Evans Jr and Gunner Spud got married with members of the 7th Hussars, Horse Artillery and 41st Foot forming a sword and bayonet arch while performing honour guard duties at Plas Newydd. All brass's were of a high standard and a good time seemed to be had by all. Thanks for making our day very special indeed guys! 5th August – Pentraeth Due to the outbreak of foot and mouth again, we were unable to use horses at Pentraeth this year. The day consisted of two Artillery displays, both of which were disrupted by a rabble of French who had captured a British field gun. After a brief insult match between the two gun commanders the two troops carried out counter battery fire to the French's demise. Hussar! 28th - 30th July – Holyhead Festival Setting up in front of the harbour, the members split into two groups. One to join the parade and one to salute the parade finishing at the harbour with cannon fire and then returning to camp to await the crowds of public firing throughout the day whenever the opportunity arose. Unfortunately the camp was short of two of the cavalry members who had gone on a life boat trip but ended up spending a couple of hours out at sea rescuing another boat. Perhaps this is what's meant by "sending in the cavalry"! Gunners Spud and Webb also had good fortune in the form of the loan of two 24pdr carronades from the maritime museum. Restoration of these pieces will be their winter project this year no doubt! Good weather and memorable events made this event a very enjoyable one. 24th July – Plas Newydd Summer Fayre Firing the cannon on the hour every hour, the Naval Shore Party drew the crowds, and press ganged two new members for their gun crew! With nice weather, and a successful fayre, the camp was busy all day with even the Marquis and Lady Anglesey coming to visit, and making the day worthwhile. 14th July – Veteran’s Day, Caernarfon Setting up camp in a peaceful spot down on the promenade, the Anglesey Hussars had a quiet day talking to anyone who was passing along the seafront. Other re-enactment groups had been based in the Castle, although they didn’t attract as much attention as members of the Saucy Seventh walking the street!! 15th-18th June – Waterloo ????? Help me guys! I wasn’t at this one!!! – Please send in your diary entries to Spud! 5-7th May – Margam Park What a wet weekend! Braving the wind and rain overnight, and rowing Captain Rogers’ new boat on the lake during the day! Margam park provided a nice backdrop for what was a new multi period event. 1st April 2007 – Bodiar Estate Training Day After a surprise birthday party for SGT Walker the night before, the training day was an opportunity to put up new tents, fix old ones and a general day for inspecting and mending kit not forgetting introducing new horses, taking photos and checking that the cannon still fires loudly!! Nice weather, great setting = good day! 11th March 2007 – Cardiff Veteran’s Parade Members of the Anglesey Hussars travelled down to join up with our friends in the 41st foot for the annual Veteran’s Parade in Cardiff. Following some drill practice in the morning, the saluted the veterans as they left the castle before marching behind them to the cenotaph for the remembrance service.
